Meet Our Alumni

Steven

Steven is studying a liberal-arts program from NYU, the first year of which is based at the University of Florence, in the beautiful Italian city of Florence.

“One of the basic requirements of my university course is to produce formal writing and regular journal entries. These weekly assignments should be my original thoughts and analysis in response to the various texts that we are reading.”

“In my English class at SISU Bilingual school, I was always encouraged and given the opportunity to share and develop my thoughts and comments in seminars and structured discussions—this has helped me a lot in the first year of my university course.”

Eric

Eric is studying for a degree in economics and humanities at one of the most well-regarded liberal arts colleges in the USA, Oberlin.

“The single biggest challenge is the volume of reading and writing that I must complete every week—at least, the equivalent of a number of books per week, plus a 15-page piece of writing.”

“My English course at SISU Bilingual School helped lay the groundwork for academic reading and extended writing, and by showing me the beauty of the English language my G12 English course taught me that acquiring excellent English is a life-long journey, not simply a painful task to overcome as quickly as possible.”

Grace

Grace is studying for a degree in humanities at Macalester Collegein Saint Paul, Minnesota, another highly-ranked university in the USA.

“Every week, I must submit three questions that should provoke discussion among my peers and synthesize information on the topic under consideration at that time—this is part of my work in writing responses to reading.”

“In my English studies at SISU Bilingual School, I was encouraged to participate in seminars, discuss readings in great detail and engage in provocative discourse with my classmates. This was challenging at first, but it has helped me a lot at college.”
