Teachers in the Sinology Department offer courses in language and culture, history, geography, and philosophy. The teaching team brings students through a selection of classic and contemporary readings in all aspects of Chinese culture and intellectual life, and then leads the students in whole-group discussions and individual and group presentations, giving students the opportunity to explore and build expertise in their own particular areas of interest. Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the school\u2019s Sinology Program is the use of \u201cHumanities Walks\u201d: guided walking tours of important locations in the city and surrounding areas that allow the students to understand the lived reality of the culture and academic disciplines they are studying in class.\n      <\/p>\n      <p class=\"text-body\">\n        Students complete these programs with the ability to understand and appreciate the unique features of Chinese culture while at the same time developing the ability to carry on a dialogue between Chinese and global perspectives.
